One of the main reasons we're behind on our production schedule is that for about a month and a half it has rained, at least a little, almost every day. This keeps our lumber stacks damp. Even though they are covered, if the wind blows it gets under the covers, then the constant high humidity keeps the wood wet.
To fight this, we have to bring the lumber inside the workshop way ahead of time where it will dry out. Since our shop is small, we can only do this in small batches, and even this causes new problems with over-crowding.

To get good straight, smooth, square glue joints, we use an extended fence and a super high quality blade on the table saw. After the boards are cut to size, we run them through this rig and shave a few thousandths of an inch from each edge to get perfect glue joints. |
