Today we will mount our drawer fronts, at least temporarily. We begin by drilling screw holes through the stiffener panels, one hole in each of the four corners. These screws, inserted from the inside into the back of the false fronts will hold the false fronts securely in place.
To help in aligning and positioning the false fronts, we route a small rabbet around the edge of the back side that will just fit into the pocket in front of the stiffener panel.
Once each fits properly we mark them for location and orientation and mount temporarily with a single screw in each.
Now we add mounts that will hold the butcher block top in place on the cabinet. Note that only the center hole is round, the mounts along the edges are slots to allow the top to expand and contract some but still hold it firmly in place.
