The Laura Lynn, a Custom Heritage Cradle
Our Laura Lynn Heritage Cradle is a full sized
cradle based on a Betty Pfauts design measuring: 34"
long, 26" wide (at the rockers), 31" high and
weighing @ 40 pounds. It is suitable for use by infants
or young toddlers. This heritage cradle design dates
back to Early American times when mothers needed a cradle
that would allow them to take their infant along while
working out doors. The cradle's roofed head board
protects the child from direct sun, netting can be draped
over as well to provide protection from insects and wind
blown debris. Even if you do not plan to employ these
features as the settlers did, this cradle makes a beautiful
addition to any traditional home.
We retain the Early American flavor of
this piece with it's simple joinery and uncomplicated
design, but add a few twists of our own to insure that it
will serve generations of infants. The cradle shown
above is in Red Oak, at right is our Paint Grade, made of
Poplar, a hardwood that accepts and holds paint very well. We
can prime it, you paint it to match the decor of your
nursery.
The Laura Lynn may also be ordered in a variety of other
hardwoods and finishes. Use the buttons to the left to explore
woods and finishes.
